How to become an Investors in People Specialist
To become an Investors in People Specialist,
candidates must undertake development which includes training, a
series of assignments and a sign-off or 'registration' process.
Typically this takes 6 months provided candidates have a number of
projects and clients via which they can acquire the necessary
practical experience.
This is a fully integrated programme that provides knowledge and
support; and opportunities to apply and demonstrate the requisite
skills, understanding and behaviours. The programme is designed to
take candidates through a development journey based on the
Investors in People Specialist Capability Framework, to a point
where Investors in People International, with whom they will be
registered, has confidence in their ability to maximise the impact
of Investors in People.
The overview below illustrates the main components of the
programme.

When signing up for the programme (download
overview), Investors in People International will ask for a
commitment to one of the registration dates published. This
should be six months from the start and may be deferred only once.
When signing up, candidates sign up for the full programme. It is
no longer possible to attend the initial training without a
commitment to complete the programme and to register.
The initial training is the same for Specialist Advisers and
would be Assessors. Assessor selection is however a carefully
managed process and candidates will be invited by Investors in
People International to become an Assessor, subject to market
demand and opportunities. Initial training is therefore to become a
Specialist Investors in People Adviser.
Cost: the whole adviser development programme costs £3000***.
This includes all elements of the programme described above, but
not travel, accommodation and other personal expenses incurred by
the candidate.****
