2017 Awards Categories

In 2017 we’ll be recognising the top  performers from across the Investors in People global community that have met our new stretching standard. The top 10 performing* Silver, Gold and Platinum accredited organisations in each sub category will be announced on 13 July 2017. The winner of each award will be crowned at the Investors in People Awards ceremony on  the 23 November 2017.

*Top 10 rankings will be generated using objective assessment data from the Investors in People accreditation process including direct employee feedback, assessor remarks and quantitative benchmark comparisons. There will be no application process for the Employer of the year categories and all organisations accredited within the designated timescales will be eligible. 2017 Categories

Platinum Employer of the year
(0– 49 employees, 50 – 249 employees, 250 – 4999 employees, 5000+ employees)
Criteria: To be eligible for this award you must have gained Platinum accreditation against the latest Investors in People standard between 8 February 2016 and 30 June 2017.

Gold Employer of the year
(0– 49 employees, 50 – 249 employees, 250 – 4999 employees, 5000+ employees)
Criteria: To be eligible for this award you must have gained Gold accreditation against the latest Investors in People standard between 8 February 2016 and 30 June 2017.

Sliver Employer of the year
(2– 49 employees, 50 – 249 employees, 250 – 4999 employees, 5000+ employees)
Criteria: To be eligible for this award you must have gained Silver accreditation against the latest Investors in People standard between 8 February 2016 and 30 June 2017.

International Employer of the year
Criteria: To be eligible for this award you must be based outside of the UK and have gained accreditation against the latest Investors in People standard (at any accreditation level) between 8 February 2016 and 30 June 2017.

NEW FOR 2017 - Apprentice Employer of the year
(2 – 499 employees) (500+ employees)
A new category for 2017, we’ll be recognising the Apprentice Employer of the year. This category celebrates businesses that lead, support and develop apprentices well to achieve outstanding results – benefiting both the individual apprentice and the entire organisation. Entries for this category open w/c 27 March.

Excellence in Leadership and Management
(2 – 499 employees) (500+ employees)
Finalists in this category will have invested in their people to strengthen leadership capability at every level of their organisation. The result? People that are inspired and motivated to achieve their potential and managers that lead by example to drive the organisation forward.

Best Newcomer
(2 – 499 employees) (500+ employees)
New to the Investors in People family, finalists in this category will be able to show an incredible passion, dedication and unswerving commitment to investing in their workforce. They have a clear understanding of what they want to achieve and genuinely care about their people and their future. To be eligible the organisation must have achieved first time accreditation against V5 or V6 after 2 June 2014.

Excellence in Reward and Recognition
(2 – 499 employees) (500+ employees)
Fostering a culture of reward and recognition at all levels of their organisation, the winner of this award will have a demonstrable commitment to their people, underpinned by an exceptional employee recognition strategy. We are looking for organisations that regularly recognise the right behaviours as well as performance.

Excellence in Social Responsibility
(2 – 499 employees) (500+ employees)
Finalists will be able to demonstrate how their people have developed and acquired new skills whilst making a valuable contribution to the community. For these organisations, social responsibility is driven from the top and rooted in the culture of the whole organisation.

Excellence in the Third Sector
(2 – 499 employees) (500+ employees)
Transforming cultures and managing change with professionalism and highly regarded communications. Finalists in this category will be able to show that they are forward thinking organisations, committed to sharing best practice and continually striving to improve.

Leader of the year
(2 – 499 employees, 500+ employees)
By far the most competitive individual Award in previous  years, in this category we recognise inspirational leadership that stands out above the rest. The winner will communicate a clear purpose and vision with passion, enthusiasm and energy. Finalists in this category will be exemplars of excellence leading their people to sustainable success.

The People’s Award for Manager of the year*
Nominated and chosen entirely by employees; in 2017 we are searching for the People’s Manager of the Year.  
Does your manager, team leader, gaffer or boss deserve some additional recognition? Do you know someone that has gone the extra mile to support their team to develop, improve and succeed? It’s time to nominate them today and recognise  their hard work and commitment to excellence.

Practitioner of the year*
This Award recognises the outstanding work of Investors in People Practitioners. Our network of over 400 licensed assessors and advisors across the world support organisations every day to achieve the Investors in People Standard. Practitioners will be nominated across our territories by Investors in People Delivery Centres.
