Indigo Swan

The Investors in People Awards 2024 - Finalist Case Study

Indigo Swan

Nominated for The Award for Best Culture (up to 250 employees), The Award for Young Person of the Year

Why did you enter the Investors in People 2024 Awards?

Indigo Swan is a big family, sports team, whichever you prefer, and if anyone is struggling, all the Swans are there to offer support and advice. The Directors and leadership team are all approachable, and many of our Swans are trained in mental health first aid. Our leaders inspire the rest of the Swans to grow and develop both personally and professionally.

Positive company culture doesn’t happen overnight though, it’s something we have worked on over the years and has naturally blossomed as the team has grown. We live and breathe our values; they are shown through everything we do and are one of the ways we ensure alignment in our ambitions from every Swan. Following a management buyout in 2022, we updated our vision and values to coincide with our new business focus. We are very proud of our values and strive to create success through the trust we have for each other and from the trust our Swans, clients and partners place in us. Culture is created by everyone. It changes, but at no time, has it been more felt or lived than it is today.

We want to celebrate all our amazing achievements which have led us to where we are today, which is why we entered the Investor in People 2024 Awards.

What has it meant to you, your team, and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2024 Award?

We are delighted to have been shortlisted for two Investors in People 2024 Awards, one that recognises our company culture, and the other that recognises the achievements of one of our amazing swans.

The global energy crisis in 2022 required us to pivot and create new opportunities to drive the business forward. We accelerated our plans to focus on renewable technologies and, as a result, we’re pushing the development of the green economy for customers. Our customers appreciate our open and honest approach and trust us when we advise them on the energy sector, and this is something that we will always continue to do.

Being shortlisted for two Investor in People awards has shown just how hard the swans work and what we are achieving as a business.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2024 Award?

It’s hard to put into words what it would mean to win an Investors in People awards. The energy sector is currently under immense pressure, to be able to shine a light on our incredible team and the amazing work they do for our customers would be an amazing achievement.

Our Case Manager Mentor, Elizabeth has also been shortlisted for ‘Young Person of the Year’. As well as being a huge achievement for the company, it would be amazing for her to be recognised and celebrated on a national level, and something that she is truly deserving of, we can’t think of someone deserves this more than her.

Lizzie was promoted to Case Manager Mentor earlier this year after being with the business less than two years. In that time, she has trained and developed the whole team and played an instrumental part in getting the team to grips with new case management software and new processes.

As a team, the success we have together is what helps to create the magic and celebrating all that we are and all we have become would be an amazing achievement, and one that would solidify us as a shining light for culture and teamwork in a sector that is missing it in many places.

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engage in awards and events like this one?

We are proud of our IIP Gold accreditation and being part of their community is invaluable to us. Just to be shortlisted as finalists for these awards is an amazing achievement, and shows the hard work, dedication and passion that our swans put into their work every day.

Our swans are at the heart of everything we do, so being engaged in awards and events like this, allows us to recognise and celebrate the work that they do on a daily basis. An important part of our vision over the next few years is to continue to train, develop and help our Swans grow, as they are our biggest asset.
