We are a small charitable organisation operating in a local East London borough, with a tight budget. Keeping up with other employers can be tough so we all agreed that this was an opportunity not to be missed. We were absolutely delighted to find out we were in the top 20 employers this year, for the first time ever.
Entering the awards helped us reflect on the change management programme we have implemented and appreciate how much we have achieved together. Being shortlisted gives an an opportunity to celebrate with each other and take pride in our achievements.
We are so proud to be recognised in this way.
For me, being shortlisted for this award validates the changes we have made so far to make this organisation even better. It gives us confidence to move forward with the further changes we have planned. I have always believed that an organisation’s greatest asset is it’s staff, and now they have shown us through the IiP process that they feel truly valued. How good is that?
For the team, the nomination shines a light on the work we do and the values that guide us all. Our staff deliver their very best for our clients every day, and this nomination celebrates them. Being shortlisted shows we are listening to their feedback, and being proactive.
For the organisation, a charity running on a tight budget, reaching the top 20 employers in the UK is more than we could have hoped for. The nomination shows that it is possible to be both small and mighty, successful and supportive, high performing and values-led. Being shortlisted shows that the changes we have made are being greatly received, and that they are being recognised.
We already feel like we’ve won, just by being nominated. But saying that, we would be ecstatic if we won.
To win this award would mean that the work that staff and management have put it in has been recognised. This shows we are listening to feedback, and being proactive. Being shortlisted shows that the changes we have made are being greatly received. We have been working continuously since our previous assessment in 2021 to become a truly values-led organisation, which is so important for the type of organisation we are. Winning this award would be the ultimate recognition of our efforts to make work better for our teams.
Preparing our nomination was a good opportunity to reflect on our change management “journey” so far. We have been part of the Investors in People community since 2005, and every assessment has given us the tools we needed to improve that bit further. There is no standard that comes close to it for making the everyday work of our people better. It is the only externally accredited quality standard we choose to hold, because we think it says a huge amount about the quality of our entire organisation, and the way we go about our business day to day. As an employer we also committed to practising what we preach, and so being part of this community meets our objectives in creating opportunities for people with learning disabilities. We are beyond proud to be part of the community, and even prouder to be nominated for this award!
