Why did you enter the Investors in People 2024 Awards?

Rua Seguridad’s objective when we started our IIP journey in 2023 was accreditation. We were aware that high international standards would be used to evaluate our people practices, but at that time, we were uncertain if we would actually receive the coveted certification.

When we received our first feedback from the baseline survey, we gained valuable insights into our people’s perspectives, which helped us shape our people strategy. Similarly, the recommendations we received during the certification process provided us with a clear understanding of how we measure up against global standards and how we can improve further. The results were encouraging.

We signed up for the Investors in People 2024 Awards because participating in it is akin to embarking on a journey of self-discovery. Even with a strong sense of our identity, hearing from others—especially from a reputable global voice—will undoubtedly help us gauge our position as an organization and identify what we can achieve.

Joining the IIP 2024 Awards under the Overseas Employer of the Year category has given us a valuable perspective as we embark on a new challenge: expanding into the ASEAN market. We look forward to going beyond borders to empower not only better roads but also the people from different parts of the world.

What has it meant to you, your team, and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2024 Award?

Being shortlisted alongside reputable organizations from around the globe for the Overseas Employer of the Year: Accredited award is very humbling. While we may be a small organization in terms of headcount—with 70 proud Ruanians—we are amazed at how we can achieve what larger companies accomplish.

We take pride in the teamwork and dedication of everyone in the organization toward the continuous improvement of our people practices. We have realized that we have made significant progress in people management after receiving this accolade. Prior to joining IIP, we struggled to know where to start. Now we’re here, sharing our story of how we made our way toward a high-performing culture.

Our commitment to placing people management at the forefront of our company priorities has proven to be one of the best decisions we have made. We have already benefited from this, as evidenced by our remarkable organizational results and business impact. Being shortlisted and recognized has definitely boosted employee morale and motivation, validating the collective effort we put into fostering a positive work environment.

This is our first time being nominated and shortlisted, and it is only our first year in the IIP Community. We look forward to many more years of growing together.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2024 Award?

Winning an Investors in People Award would undoubtedly be a monumental milestone for us at Rua Seguridad. As this is our first year as part of the Investors in People community, receiving this award would set an exceptionally high standard for our future endeavors. It emphasizes the importance of continually refining and enhancing our people practices, ensuring that we not only meet but exceed expectations in the years to come. This achievement would motivate us to pave even more roads to success and embark on empowering journeys with our employees.

Moreover, winning the Award for Overseas Employer of the Year would serve as a powerful source of inspiration for our entire team. Despite the challenges we face, our unwavering commitment to our core values and the strength of our company culture have allowed us to persevere and thrive. This recognition would validate our efforts and reinforce the belief that we can overcome obstacles through dedication and a people-centered approach.

Additionally, this international recognition would instill greater confidence as we look to expand our operations into Southeast Asia. Knowing that our people management strategy is acknowledged on a global scale provides us with a sense of validation and assurance. It reinforces our belief that, regardless of where we are in the world, our commitment to empowering our workforce will resonate and lead to success. This award would not only highlight our achievements but also serve as a beacon of motivation for our team as we continue to grow and evolve in the global market.

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engage in awards and events like this one?

Being part of the Investors in People (IIP) community is incredibly motivating and inspiring for us as we focus on empowering our people. The opportunity to share best practices with other organizations provides us with invaluable insights and innovative ideas that can enhance our own strategies. As we plan to expand beyond the Philippines, accessing international sources of knowledge and experience becomes even more critical, allowing us to learn from diverse perspectives and successful approaches.

The awards within the IIP community are a source of immense inspiration. Even if we choose not to participate in every category, hearing the stories of other organizations allows us to relate to their journeys and challenges. These narratives motivate us to strive for excellence and remind us that we are not alone in our pursuit of a people-centered approach.

Ultimately, being part of the IIP community acts as a vital partnership in our growth journey. It provides us with the support, resources, and inspiration necessary to cultivate a thriving workplace culture. This collaboration empowers us to not only improve our practices but also to create a lasting impact on our employees and the broader community as we evolve as an organization.
