Why did you enter the Investors in People 2024 Awards?

Entering the Investors in People 2024 Awards symbolises all our efforts and passion to value our team and recognise the amazing support they provide everyday to the people in our homes. At The Bridge Care, we are dedicated to supporting adults with autism, learning disabilities and complex support needs. We wholeheartedly believe that the key to exceptional support lies in the happiness and well-being of our colleagues. If our team feel valued, respected, and genuinely enjoy coming to work, this positively impacts the quality of support we provide to the individuals in our care. When we started on this journey seven years ago we had a vision to create a positive and fulfilling environment for everyone at The Bridge and we feel these awards go some way to recognising the contributions that everyone makes towards that goal.

The IIP framework has strengthened our people strategy from our wellbeing initiatives to leadership development. By entering we aim to showcase the progress we’ve made in creating a better working environment that will inspire others sharing our journey especially those within Health and Social care. We want to send a clear message that you can achieve a rewarding and successful career in care.

What has it meant to you, your team, and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2024 Award?

Reading the email from Investors in People, notifying us that we had been shortlisted as a finalist for the Employer of the Year Award, was a truly proud moment for our entire organisation. It wasn’t just recognition, it was a validation of everything we stand for and the work we’ve poured into creating a thriving, supportive environment for our team and the individuals we care for. For us, this isn’t just about an award; it represents the culmination of our belief that if we take care of our people, they will take care of the amazing people whom we support.

For the team, this recognition is more than just a nod to our efforts, it is a celebration of their commitment, passion, and dedication. It has filled each of us with immense pride and reaffirmed that our collective hard work has made a real impact. To know that we are being considered is a reminder that every challenge we have faced, every milestone we’ve achieved, and every initiative we’ve championed has been worthwhile.

Being shortlisted means we are moving closer to our vision of setting the standard in creating people-first workplaces. It has ignited an even greater sense of purpose, motivating us to continue pushing forward, improving our practices, and ensuring our people feel valued and empowered every day. It’s an honor to stand alongside other companies in this category, and this recognition alone has already brought us closer as a team.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2024 Award?

Our ethos is simple: people first. Whether it’s our team or the people we support, we strive to create an environment where everyone can thrive. This award would not just be a symbol of recognition, it would be a testament to our journey, a celebration of the hard work and dedication of our staff who go above and beyond every single day. To win this would mean the world to us. It would confirm that our approach to developing a positive workplace culture is not only right but impactful. It would also highlight the value of creating a happy, motivated workforce that in turn enhances the lives of those we support. This award would inspire us to keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the field of care, making it a profound achievement for every single person at The Bridge Care. We want to strengthen our reputation as an employer of choice and a leader of people management setting the benchmark for other organisations in our sector.

Winning an Investors in People award would send a powerful message to other organisations within the Health and Social Care sector that our combined efforts to support the most vulnerable people in society is recognised and appreciated, and that through creating a positive work environment the benefits are there in achieving a stable and happy community of colleagues that can make a real difference.

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engage in awards and events like this one?

Being part of the Investors in People community is vital to The Bridge Care. IIP sets the benchmark for people management, offering insights that transform into changes. Our goal is for every member of our team to experience a better working life, and we firmly believe that our involvement with IIP significantly supports us in that journey.

Through IIP’s research on culture, wellbeing, and staff retention, we gain a deeper understanding of our organisation’s structure and how to enhance it. This allows us to implement targeted actions that directly benefit our people. Accreditation isn’t just a recognition; it’s a roadmap for continuous improvement.
