Why did you enter the Investors in People 2024 Awards?

In our most recent assessment the Ridge attained “Established” level which was a significant milestone for us and one of which we are very proud. We have used the We invest in people framework to help continually improve and value our people more. As we now continue the work towards the next level we felt it was worthwhile entering for the awards so that we could gauge how far we had come and continue to be inspired to do even better. We also think it would be a great reward for our whole team to see that all the hard work that they put in every day has been recognized and noticed and reinforce what they already know – that the Ridge is a great place to work!

What has it meant to you, your team, and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2024 Award?

This is an important validation of the work that we have done and an external marker of the progress that we have made. It is really good to know that we are on the right track and doing the right things to help us recruit, train and retain the very best people for our organisation. at our previous assessment in 2020 it was suggested to us by our assessor that we should make more overt use of the values that clearly underpinned our organisation. As a result we refreshed our organization’s values and we use them widely in everything we do – from recruiting new staff, inducting them, appraising them and managing them. It is encouraging to get external validation of the step change that this has enabled us to make for our organisation.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2024 Award?

We spend a lot of time striving to do better and beating ourselves up about the things that we don’t do as well as we would like, sometimes it is good to stop and reflect on how well we are doing and celebrate what we already do very well. It would be a great boost to our practice team to win at The Investors in People Awards – our success is all about the care that we give to our patients and that is driven by our practice team being there for our patients meeting their needs. To be recognized in this way would show our people what we already know – that they are a great bunch of people.

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engage in awards and events like this one?

Investors In People and the use of the We invest in people framework have central to our strategies and approach to looking after and developing our people in recent years. It has been instrumental in helping us to achieve a step change in the quality of our team and the leadership that we have throughout the organisation. Key to this is the opportunity to network with and share with other like minded organisations in the IIP community. We have learned a great deal from attending IIP events and it has be good share a little of what we have done with others.
