Why did you enter the Investors in People 2024 Awards?

UK Power Networks is a longstanding partner of Investors in People. We place great value in the process as a means to expertly identify areas where we can be even better for our employees.

Our journey from We invest in people Silver to Platinum is one that we are immensely proud of, and these awards are a way to recognise those committed teams that come to work everyday to make life better for our employees. We place great emphasis on recognition, not simply financial, and the awards are an excellent opportunity to showcase some of the incredible work carried out by our amazing employees.

What has it meant to you, your team, and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2024 Award?

Here are some of the reactions from our team, after Investors In People emailed us to say we had five finalists in this year’s awards: ‘This is brilliant news! Fingers crossed for us all!😊’ and ‘Excellent news – well done all!’

For the employees who led the projects we showcased in our entries, being announced as a finalist is an endorsement and acknowledgement of their efforts. The independent nature of the judging means that no matter who wins on the night, our teams work has proved worthy of being listed as best in class.

Such news (which we have already shouted loudly and proudly about on social media!) has the added benefit of helping us to attract and recruit people looking to work for a company which invests in its people.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2024 Award?

Winning an Investors in People 2024 Award would be an incredible achievement, an enduring testament of the hard work our team members put in every day. To be recognised amongst other winners at The Investors in People Awards would be a huge honour and an example of how, across the UK, we can collectively deliver compelling company cultures that engage, motivate, and inspire.

For us, that honour lasts long after the spotlight of the awards ceremony has faded, the band had packed up and the drinks have been cleared away!

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engage in awards and events like this one?

Being part of the Investors in People community gives us an invaluable external benchmark beyond our office walls, and beyond the energy sector, to reveal just how well we are performing for our employees.

Being part of the Investors in People community enhances not just our business, but our wider industry as some of the best practice and learnings are taken by UK Power Networks and more often than not shared through industry specific forums so that as many employees can benefit from the excellent work of the IIP community as possible.
