Why did you enter the Investors in People 2025 Awards?

Culture and people have always been at the forefront of everything we do at IT Desk UK. From day one, our mission has been to build a workplace where individuals feel empowered, supported, and proud to belong. This isn’t just a philosophy—it’s the foundation of our strategy, our operations, and our success.

Working with Investors in People has provided the structure and clarity to take that commitment even further. Their framework has helped us formalise what we’ve always believed: that investing in people is the most powerful way to grow a business. It’s given us the tools to assess, improve, and evolve—ensuring that our culture-first approach is not only intentional, but impactful.

Being invited to enter the Employer of the Year 2025 Awards was incredibly humbling. It felt like a moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate the journey we’ve taken—not just as an organisation, but as a team. We owe this opportunity to the hard work, passion, and resilience of every individual who contributes to our culture every single day. This award entry is a tribute to them.

We entered the awards to honour that journey. A journey shaped by bold decisions, honest conversations, and a shared commitment to putting people first. It’s a story of growth, resilience, and purpose. It’s also a signal to our team that their efforts matter—that what they do every day is seen, valued, and worthy of recognition.

At its heart, this submission is about our people. The ones who show up with creativity, care, and courage. The ones who challenge the status quo, support their colleagues, and bring our values to life. We wanted to give them the spotlight they deserve. A moment to celebrate how far we’ve come, acknowledge the challenges we’ve overcome, and recommit to our vision. A vision of a workplace where people come first, always.

What has it meant to you, your team, and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Being shortlisted for the Investors in People 2025 Employer of the Year Award is far more than a badge of honour—it’s a deeply meaningful milestone that reflects the heart of who we are as an organisation. It’s a powerful affirmation of our values, our culture, and the unwavering commitment we’ve made to our people.

For our team, this recognition has sparked a profound sense of pride and belonging. It validates the countless hours of dedication, the bold decisions we’ve taken to prioritise wellbeing and development, and the collective effort to build a workplace where people genuinely come first. It’s a moment that says, “You are seen. You are valued. You are making a difference.”

We’ve always celebrated our people locally, regularly entering our Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber Awards, where we’ve been winners in both “Excellence in Customer Service” and “Commitment to People Development.” These accolades have meant a great deal to us—but being invited to compete on a national scale by Investors in People is something else entirely. It’s massive. It’s humbling. And it’s something the whole team has got behind with genuine excitement and pride.

For our team, this recognition has sparked a profound sense of belonging. It validates the countless hours of dedication, the bold decisions we’ve taken to prioritise wellbeing and development, and the collective effort to build a workplace where people genuinely come first. It’s a moment that says, “You are seen. You are valued. You are making a difference.”

But perhaps most importantly, this shortlisting sends a clear and heartfelt message to every member of our team:

You matter.
Your wellbeing is a priority.
Your growth is essential.
Your voice is valued.
And your work is making a real impact.

As we continue our journey we do so with gratitude, humility, and a renewed sense of purpose. Winning the award would be spectacular—but being shortlisted for a national award by IIP is special in itself.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Winning the Investors in People 2025 Employer of the Year Award would be a landmark achievement for our organisation—one that transcends recognition and speaks directly to the heart of who we are and what we stand for. It would be a powerful validation of the culture we’ve built, the values we live by, and the unwavering belief that when you invest in people, you invest in everything.

At IT Desk UK, we don’t just develop skills—we develop people and this award would confirm that our commitment to wellbeing, growth, and inclusion is not only making a difference internally, but is being recognised nationally as a model of excellence.

For our team, winning would be a deeply emotional moment. It would honour the teams who’ve embraced new ways of working, and the individuals who’ve grown into confident, capable leaders. It would say to every member of our organisation: You helped build this. You made this possible. You are the reason we’ve come this far.

Culturally, it would be a moment of collective pride. It would validate the inclusive, collaborative, and fun environment we’ve worked so hard to create—from our weekly team rituals and peer-led meetings to our mental health initiatives and creative celebrations. It would energise our people, deepen their sense of belonging, and inspire them to keep growing.

Strategically, winning would be a catalyst for future growth. It would give us the momentum to push harder towards Platinum accreditation, expand our leadership development programmes, and continue evolving our Culture Canvas. It would strengthen our relationships with customers and partners, demonstrating that our values align with theirs and that our people are integral to our success.

Above all, winning would send a clear and powerful message: People matter here. Their wellbeing is a priority. Their growth is essential. Their voice is valued. And their work is making a real impact.

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engage in awards and events like this one?

Being part of the IIP community is not just important to us—it’s integral to who we are and how we operate. It connects us to a network of organisations that share our belief that people are the foundation of success. For IT Desk UK, this community offers more than benchmarking and accreditation—it offers inspiration, accountability, and a shared commitment to making work better for everyone.

Engaging in awards and events is a vital part of that journey. These moments allow us to reflect on our progress, celebrate our people, and learn from others who are leading the way in culture, wellbeing, and leadership.

One of the most impactful experiences was attending the Manchester Celebration event. It was more than a celebration—it was a learning opportunity. We came away with fresh insights and practical strategies, particularly around digital wellbeing and the right to disconnect. These topics resonated deeply with our team, and we’ve since begun implementing changes to support healthier boundaries, reduce digital fatigue, and promote a more balanced work-life culture.

This kind of engagement is exactly why the IIP community matters. It challenges us to think differently, act boldly, and continuously improve. It gives us access to thought leadership, peer support, and real-world examples of what great people practices look like. And it reinforces our commitment to being a workplace where people feel safe, supported, and empowered.
Being part of this community also sends a powerful message to our team: You’re part of something bigger. Your growth is not just a company priority—it’s part of a national movement.

IIP plays a key role in helping us grow future leaders within. By embedding leadership into our everyday practices, and using IIP’s guidance to support coaching, feedback, and succession planning, we’re not just encouraging people to step up—we’re equipping them to lead with confidence and purpose.
