Langley Trust

The Investors in People Awards 2025 - Finalist Case Study

Langley Trust

Nominated for The Award for Employee Engagement, The Award for Leader of the Year

Why did you enter the Investors in People 2025 Awards?

Langley has been awarded Investors in People (IiP) Gold for three consecutive assessments since 2016. In 2024 we won the IiP award for Best Culture and most recently, in 2025 we were awarded Platinum for the first time. The Investors in People Framework and external awards enable us to benchmark our progress against other industry leaders and ensure that we do not become too inward-looking. Assessing our continuous improvement journey against a range of criteria that IiP reviews has become a feature of the way we work; so every year now it is less a question of asking ‘will we enter?’ and more ‘which category do we want to assess ourselves against?’

What has it meant to you, your team, and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Staff engagement really matters to us at Langley; to be able to come as a finalist within this category is a great testimony to the work we have done to improve the way we engage our people and invite their ideas and experience of working for the Trust. Our recent IiP survey attracted a 95% response rate from our staff and we are so very grateful to have such a committed group of people working with us. Our Chief Executive, Tracy Wild, has also been shortlisted as a finalist for Leader of the Year and this is a wonderful way for us to honour her hard work and thank her for all that she has brought to Langley during her years at the helm. Leadership can be a lonely place, and we want her to know that we see her efforts and appreciate her commitment to making Langley the best it can be, for all of our people – staff, volunteers and clients.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Having won the Best Culture Award in 2024, and achieving Platinum for the first time, we are hungry for more success! We value the standard that Investors in People sets and regard it as a hallmark of excellence that is worth aspiring to. It is well understood across the industry and makes a difference to our staff, who are increasingly proud to be rated so highly by IiP. Our sense is that prospective employees are interested to understand how the organisations they choose to work for are valuing their people; what better way to demonstrate that we do just that at Langley!

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engage in awards and events like this one?

Win or lose on the night, there is an immense sense of pride at being part of the Investors in People community and always opportunities to network, to be inspired by others’ stories and to learn from their journeys. Continuous improvement cannot happen in isolation and we appreciate the chance to lean in, to listen and learn, as well as to celebrate success, for others as well as ourselves. Celebration is a significant part of Langley culture and we applaud excellence wherever we can.
