The Investors in People Awards 2025 - Finalist Case Study

Nominated for The Award for UK Employer of the Year: Silver (2-49 people)

Why did you enter the Investors in People 2025 Awards?

This year marks our first journey into the Investors in People process – and what a journey it’s been. We entered the Awards to celebrate the culture we’ve worked hard to build and protect, especially as we grow. Achieving Silver accreditation was a proud moment for us, and being shortlisted for the UK Employer of the Year (2–49 people) category feels like a dynamic endorsement of our commitment to our team!

We’ve always believed that great work and great culture go hand in hand. LCW was founded on the principle that people should feel empowered, recognised, and genuinely valued – not just as employees, but as creators of our success. Entering the Awards has given us a chance to reflect on how far we’ve come, and to share our story with other who care about building people-first organisations.

If we were fortunate enough to win, it would definitely be a momentous celebration for our whole team.

What has it meant to you, your team, and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Being shortlisted has been a huge morale boost for the entire LCW team. It’s a moment of recognition not just for leadership, but for every person who contributes to our culture daily – through collaboration, kindness, creativity, and everyday grit.
The Investors in People process prompted meaningful conversations across the business. It encouraged us to listen more deeply, act more boldly, and celebrate more often. Our founder, Lucy Williams, summed it up best:

“The whole experience really got me thinking about what ‘investing in people’ really means. I came to the quick conclusion that it means something different to everyone – and with that in mind, I found the award a real testimony to the whole senior management team here at LCW.”

We’ve used the feedback from our IIP survey to guide improvements and strengthen our culture: from enhancing communication to evolving our values through company-wide participation, the process has helped us grow with intention. Being shortlisted validates that we’re on the right path – and serves as encouragement to keep moving onwards and upwards.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Winning this award would be a milestone moment for LCW. It would give us another opportunity to celebrate with our team (at our Christmas get-together!) – not just for what we’ve achieved, but for how we’ve achieved it.

We’re proud to be an SME that’s growing fast, competing with global players in medical communications, and doing so with a culture that very much puts people first. A win would shine a light on our approach: one that prioritises flexibility, inclusivity and shared success.

It would also be a powerful message to our industry – that you don’t need to be the biggest to be the best at looking after your people. We’ve built LCW on the belief that when people feel valued, they do their best work. Winning would reinforce that belief and energise us for the next chapter.

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engage in awards and events like this one?

Joining the Investors in People community has been one of the most impactful decisions we’ve made in recent years. We began the process around a year ago, seeking a framework to help us stay true to our values as we scaled. With growth comes change, and we wanted to ensure that change didn’t come at the expense of culture.

The IIP journey gave us structure, insight and accountability. It helped us identify areas for improvement and gave us the confidence to make bold changes. We actively seek out new ways to connect our remote team, whether it’s an online baby shower, biannual company-wide gatherings and twice-monthly office days with travel covered, to ensure everyone feels part of something bigger.

Being part of the IIP community means we’re surrounded by organisations who care deeply about their people. It’s a space for learning, sharing and celebrating – and we’re thrilled to be part of that.
