Manston Primary School

The Investors in People Awards 2025 - Finalist Case Study

Manston Primary School

Nominated for The Award for UK Employer of the Year: Gold (2-49 people)

Why did you enter the Investors in People 2025 Awards?

We entered because we believe staff wellbeing and development are not optional extras—they are the foundation of great schools. As a small team, we have worked hard to build a culture where people feel trusted, supported and able to grow. The framework helped us reflect, refine and raise our game. We wanted to celebrate the commitment we already live out every day and benchmark ourselves against the very best.

Our IIP journey isn’t about ticking boxes—it’s about being the best employer we can be, so our staff can give their very best to our pupils.

What has it meant to you, your team, and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2025 Award?

It means everything. Being the only school at the Manchester finalist event reminded us that what we’re doing is genuinely sector-leading. For our team, it’s a validation of the trust, empathy and professional generosity that underpin our culture. For our school community, it’s a source of pride—and a reminder that small schools can achieve big things when they invest in people.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Winning would be a national platform to show what’s possible in education when you put people first. It would recognise our commitment to lived wellbeing, inclusive leadership, and a culture of kindness with high expectations. And most of all, it would reflect our belief that when adults thrive, children do too.

As a small local school, we choose our collaborations, partners and activities carefully. Having recognition in this area would be huge for an organisation like ours—it would elevate our voice, open doors, and strengthen our ability to lead and influence in our sector.

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engage in awards and events like this one?

Being part of IIP gives us both challenge and connection. It places us in a community of values-driven organisations who believe that doing right by people leads to long-term success. Through the awards, assessments and learning, we’ve sharpened our approach and opened our thinking. IIP holds us to account—not just for what we promise, but for what we practise.
