The Investors in People Awards 2025 - Finalist Case Study

Nominated for The Award for UK Employer of the Year: Gold (2-49 people)

Why did you enter the Investors in People 2025 Awards?

At MPA Recruitment, our people are the foundation of everything we do. Over the past few years, we have experienced significant growth and transformation, expanding our services, modernising our systems, and reshaping our culture to ensure that every member of our team feels valued, supported, and empowered. Entering the Investors in People Awards was a natural step in showcasing how deeply our people strategy underpins our success.

Our decision to enter this year was driven by reflection as much as ambition. Following a period of organisational change, we wanted to celebrate the resilience, adaptability, and commitment of our team. The past 12 months have seen us refine our leadership structure, invest in comprehensive staff development programmes, and embed a culture of open communication and shared accountability. These efforts have not only strengthened our business but also deepened our sense of unity and purpose.

We see the Investors in People framework as more than accreditation, it’s a benchmark that challenges us to keep improving. By entering the Awards, we wanted to measure our progress against the best employers across the UK, learn from others, and demonstrate how a Northern Irish business can proudly lead by example in creating an inclusive, high-performance culture.

Ultimately, our entry represents our belief that success is best measured through people. As Zig Ziglar once said, “You don’t build a business – you build people, and people build the business.” Every milestone MPA achieves, from record growth to national recognition, is made possible by the passion, integrity, and teamwork of our staff. The Investors in People Awards provide the perfect platform to recognise and celebrate that collective achievement.

What has it meant to you, your team, and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Being shortlisted for the Investors in People 2025 Awards has been an incredibly affirming moment for MPA and for every member of our team. For the organisation, it is recognition that our ongoing investment in people, culture, and leadership is delivering real impact, not only on business performance, but on the experience and engagement of our staff.

For our team, the shortlisting has been a source of pride, motivation, and celebration. It has sparked meaningful conversations across all branches, with staff reflecting on the progress we’ve made together and feeling a renewed sense of ownership and connection to our shared goals. It has validated the efforts of colleagues who have embraced change, adapted to new ways of working, and contributed to building a culture that is both high-performing and inclusive.

For leadership, the nomination has reinforced that the steps we’ve taken in refining our structure, enhancing communication, introducing tailored training, and embedding a culture of accountability, are genuinely making a difference. It has highlighted the power of listening to our people, acting on feedback, and creating opportunities for growth at every level of the business.

Ultimately, the shortlisting is more than an accolade. It is a testament to the dedication, passion, and teamwork of every individual at MPA, and a signal that our commitment to putting people at the heart of our strategy is both recognised and celebrated.

We look forward to seeing MPA in the spotlight at the award ceremony, knowing this recognition reinforces to our team that what we have built together is incredibly special and something everyone at MPA can be deeply proud of.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Winning an Investors in People 2025 Award would be a tremendous honour for MPA Recruitment and a powerful reflection of everything we stand for, people, purpose, and progress. It would validate the years of effort we’ve invested in building a workplace where every individual feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Our business is about people, matching talent with opportunity and helping individuals find fulfilment in their careers. Whether it’s supporting someone in achieving a better work-life balance, guiding the next step in their career, or helping a student balance study and earning, we are proud to play a part in shaping brighter futures. We also help our clients build stronger teams, matching not only skillsets but personalities and values, ensuring every placement is a success story for both sides.

At MPA, we believe that investing in people is not optional; it’s essential. While recruitment agencies can operate without deep investment in staff, we have chosen a different path — one built on growth, learning, and empowerment. We invest in people because it’s the right thing to do, because it creates lasting impact, and because it defines who we are as an organisation.

“Every milestone we’ve reached has been powered by the passion, innovation, and care of our people. This recognition would belong to them.” says Nicky McConville, Managing Director.

As we continue to expand, bid for new tenders, and strengthen partnerships across the UK, this award would give us a platform to lead by example and show that an organisation built on empathy, excellence, and inclusivity can thrive.

Ultimately, investing in people has measurable business value, but that’s never been our motivation. We do it because we believe in our message, our people, and the communities we serve. Being recognised by Investors in People would be the perfect way to celebrate an incredible year of growth and to inspire us to achieve even more in 2026 and beyond

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engage in awards and events like this one?

Being part of the Investors in People community is extremely important to MPA Recruitment. IIP provides a structured framework that keeps us accountable and ensures our people-first initiatives remain impactful. It gives us an annual opportunity to review progress, reflect on what has worked, and identify where we can continue to grow. Revisiting previous applications is both rewarding and enlightening, reminding us of the goals we set for our team and organisation, and helping us measure how far we have come.

The support and resources provided by IIP are invaluable. Guidance from the team, access to tools, and 1-1 support ensure that our initiatives are effective, consistent, and measurable. This allows us to continually raise the standard for our people and embed a culture of continuous improvement.

Equally important is the wider IIP community. Networking events and case studies offer inspiration and fresh ideas, connecting us with other organisations, including some of the companies we supply staff for. Learning from both newcomers and veteran employers reinforces best practices and highlights innovative ways to develop and engage our people.

“Investors in People means more than an accreditation to us,” says MPA’s HR Director Ciara Campbell. “It’s a standard that keeps us accountable and motivated to continually do better for our people. Being part of this community reminds us that no matter how far we’ve come, there’s always more we can achieve together.”

For MPA, being part of the IIP community and participating in awards is about more than recognition it actually reinforces who we are as an organisation, one that leads with heart, grows with purpose, and continually invests in people to create lasting impact across our teams, clients, and communities.
