The Investors in People Awards 2025 - Finalist Case Study

Nominated for The Award for Learning and Development (up to 499 people)

Why did you enter the Investors in People 2025 Awards?

Rainbow Restoration has a long-standing commitment to professional development, ensuring we stay ahead of the industry by investing in our people. We identified a sector-wide issue: inconsistent technical delivery across a national network. Our solution was to embed learning and development as a strategic lever to drive service consistency, employee engagement and long-term business growth.

Our Restoration Professional Training is the first and only programme in our sector to be externally assessed and Assured by global education body City & Guilds. Filling a long-standing gap in the market, we have pioneered a structured, accredited development pathway in a field with historically limited progression frameworks.

The City & Guilds validation process allowed us to benchmark our training against world-class standards – a powerful endorsement of Rainbow’s values, culture and commitment to quality. We entered the Investors in People Awards to share this journey and showcase how people-first strategies can strengthen individual careers and whole organisations.

Our technical team has dedicated significant time and expertise to creating the Restoration Professional pathways. This nomination celebrates their efforts and spotlights the investment made in our state-of-the-art Rainbow Restoration Academy – a fully immersive training facility designed to cater to all learning styles and deliver best-in-class, scenario-based learning.
Being recognised by Investors in People is an honour. We hope to inspire other vocational businesses to invest in their workforce and raise industry standards – creating a future where technician roles are respected, upskilled and fully supported.

What has it meant to you, your team, and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Being shortlisted for an Investors in People Award has been an incredible source of pride and motivation across Rainbow Restoration, from our Central Office team to the wider franchise network. Like our City & Guilds Assured status, this recognition validates the impact of our training programmes and reinforces our belief in the strategy behind them. We’ve always welcomed external assessment, because we’re confident in what we’ve built – and want to be held to a high standard.

Investors in People is a benchmark for organisational excellence. Their recognition confirms that our investment in learning and development aligns with best practice and is already delivering value for both individuals and the business. It’s also had a positive impact on stakeholder engagement.

As a franchised business, our programme’s success relies on continued buy-in from our board of franchisees. Being shortlisted has provided tangible reassurance that the strategy is working, supporting further rollout and long-term commitment.

For our first cohort of trained technicians, it’s a clear sign that their development matters and is being noticed at a national level. We’re confident this will help drive uptake across the network, with more technicians actively pursuing CPD and progressing through the training pathway.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Winning an Investors in People Award would be a landmark moment for Rainbow Restoration, cementing our position as a people-first leader in the damage management industry. This initiative has driven a genuine cultural shift, proving that technical excellence begins with meaningful investment in people. An accolade of this calibre would reinforce that message and accelerate momentum across the business.

Our technical team has poured immense time, expertise and passion into building our City & Guilds Assured programme from the ground up. This award would serve as a public recognition of their efforts – a badge of honour that celebrates their role in raising industry standards.

From a strategic perspective, the award would strengthen technician recruitment and retention. It would showcase our structured, accredited career pathway, helping attract new talent into the sector and demonstrating to existing employees that their development is a long-term priority.

Innovation is a central pillar of our 2025 strategy. Endorsement from Investors in People would validate our direction and encourage us to keep pushing boundaries – expanding our training offer, investing in new modules and continuing to enhance customer outcomes.

Finally, winning would significantly boost our brand credibility. As a trusted partner to leading insurers, adjusters, and public sector organisations, public recognition from Investors in People would reinforce confidence in our people, our processes and our values.

Finally, winning would elevate our brand credibility and act as a powerful endorsement of our people-first approach. For our insurer, adjuster, and public sector partners, it reinforces confidence in our capability, values and culture – positioning Rainbow Restoration as a trusted, progressive leader in the industry.

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engage in awards and events like this one?

Being newly part of the Investors in People community is incredibly valuable to Rainbow Restoration. As a national franchise network in a technical industry, it’s easy to benchmark ourselves solely against direct competitors, but doing so can create a narrow view of what success looks like. Engaging with like-minded, people-focused organisations across sectors helps us gain fresh insight, challenge our thinking and remain aligned with best practice in culture, leadership and development.

We can see this community as a network of accountability – something we welcome. People management is central to our long-term strategy and participating in events like this reinforces our commitment to a learning-led, values-driven culture.

Networking with other organisations inspires our teams and keeps us future-ready. We believe great partnerships are key to business success and Investors in People events provide an ideal platform to build meaningful relationships with peers and potential collaborators.

Finally, the positive brand association enhances our reputation as a people-first, purpose-led organisation. It supports our wider ESG, franchise support and social value commitments, helping us attract aligned partners, customers and future talent who share our values.
