St Elizabeth’s

The Investors in People Awards 2025 - Finalist Case Study

Nominated for The Award for UK Employer of the Year: Accredited (250+ people)

Why did you enter the Investors in People 2025 Awards?

St Elizabeth’s chose to enter the Investors in People 2025 Awards because we believe that our people are at the very heart of everything we do. As one of the UK’s leading organisations supporting individuals with complex needs, we know that delivering exceptional care, education, and support is only possible when our staff feel valued, empowered, and inspired in their roles.

Over the last few years, we have invested significantly in developing a culture where every colleague has the opportunity to thrive. This has meant not only strengthening our professional development pathways but also embedding wellbeing, inclusion, and recognition at the centre of our people strategy. From leadership training and qualifications in care to staff-led wellbeing initiatives and listening forums, we have worked hard to ensure that everyone has a voice and a clear sense of belonging within our community.

We entered the Investors in People Awards because we wanted to share and celebrate the progress we have made on this journey. The Awards provide an opportunity to benchmark ourselves against the very best, to highlight the innovation and dedication of our teams, and to showcase the tangible impact that a people-first approach can have on the lives of the individuals and families we serve.

Most importantly, our entry reflects our commitment to continuous improvement. We are proud of the progress we have made, but we are equally determined to keep building a workplace where people feel inspired to give their best every day. Recognition from Investors in People would not only celebrate the achievements of our staff but also motivate us to keep raising the bar for the benefit of our people, our organisation, and those who rely on our services.

What has it meant to you, your team, and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Being shortlisted for an Investors in People 2025 Award has been an incredibly proud and affirming moment for St Elizabeth’s, our teams, and the wider organisation. For us, this recognition is much more than a celebration, it is a validation of the hard work, passion, and dedication that every colleague brings each day to support the people we serve.

For our staff, it has been a powerful reminder that their contributions matter. Many work in challenging roles that demand resilience, empathy, and commitment, and to see their efforts recognised at a national level has boosted morale and strengthened their sense of pride in being part of St Elizabeth’s. It has also encouraged colleagues to reflect on how far we have come as a team, and to feel inspired about what we can achieve together in the future.

For our leadership, being shortlisted has reinforced that our investment in people-first strategies – from professional development and wellbeing to inclusion and recognition – is making a genuine difference. It shows that our commitment to building a supportive, empowering workplace culture is not only felt internally but is also recognised externally by respected peers.

For the organisation as a whole, it has united us around a shared sense of achievement and purpose. St Elizabeth’s exists to transform lives, and this shortlisting highlights that creating an environment where our staff can thrive directly enhances the impact we make on those we support. It has reaffirmed that when we look after our people, they can deliver their very best for the individuals, families, and communities who rely on us.

Ultimately, being shortlisted has been a milestone that energises us to continue striving for excellence. It is a celebration of our journey so far and a motivation to keep raising the standard of what it means to be a truly people-focused organisation.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Winning an Investors in People 2025 Award would be an extraordinary achievement for St Elizabeth’s, representing not only recognition of our journey so far but also a powerful affirmation of our people-centred values. At our core, we exist to support individuals with complex needs to live fulfilling lives, and this mission is only possible because of the commitment, skill, and compassion of our staff. An award of this calibre would shine a light on the incredible work they do every day and demonstrate that our investment in their growth, wellbeing, and development is making a real difference.

For our people, winning would mean validation on a national stage – recognition that their dedication and passion matter. It would instil pride across our workforce, helping colleagues feel seen, valued, and inspired to continue delivering the highest standards of care, education, and support. It would also serve as a reminder to every member of staff that they are part of something bigger – an organisation that not only transforms lives externally but also prioritises the growth and wellbeing of its own people.

For our organisation, it would reinforce that our people-first approach is the right one, and give us confidence to keep pushing forward with ambitious strategies around inclusion, leadership development, and staff engagement. It would also strengthen our reputation as an employer of choice, supporting us in attracting and retaining talented, compassionate people who want to make a difference.

Above all, winning would symbolise a collective achievement. It would belong not to one team or department, but to every person who has contributed to building the culture we are so proud of today. It would be a milestone in our journey, inspiring us to keep striving for excellence, and a testament to the fact that when we invest in our people, we invest in a brighter future for the entire St Elizabeth’s community.
