The Lennox Partnership

The Investors in People Awards 2025 - Finalist Case Study

Nominated for The Award for UK Employer of the Year: Platinum (50-249 people)

Why did you enter the Investors in People 2025 Awards?

We were delighted to have achieved Investors in People recognition at platinum level in September of last year, which gave us fantastic recognition through our social media channels, and amongst our partners and funders. It was particularly pleasing to hear we were one of only 37 organisations in Scotland who had achieved this. We also benefitted from the recognition we received from our local politicians, with one lodging a Parliamentary Motion within the Scottish Parliament, congratulating our organisation and stating “ sends every best wish to the inspirational team at TLP for continued success through what it sees as its life-transforming work in the Strathkelvin and Bearsden constituency and beyond”.

Given the significant benefits we have derived from achieving our platinum recognition, our board and staff have agreed that the “icing on the cake” of winning the Investors in People Awards UK Employer of the Year 2025 would undoubtably increase our strong reputation for being an organisation which greatly values its staff, and recognises the contribution they make to the successes of the organisation, and assists us in our ambition of being an employer of choice for new recruits

What has it meant to you, your team, and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2025 Award?

In assessing whether we felt it was worthwhile for The Lennox Partnership to enter the UK Employer of the Year category, we had some reservations, given that we were a relatively small, not for profit organisation only operating across the central belt of Scotland, and the fact that the category would assess organisations on a UK wide basis. However, given that Investors In People had invited us to apply as a platinum level recognised organisation, it was felt that we should use the opportunity to tell our story of how well we run the organisation, in the hope that we might convince the Award assessors that we may be worthy of consideration for the Award. Clearly, we were delighted when we were advised that we had been shortlisted, which gives our staff and board members a real reason to be proud of what we have achieved, and this has been recognised by an independent panel at a UK level. Again, this has allowed us to promote the fact that we are finalists in the Awards process across all of our social media channels, raising awareness of our organisation’s significant achievement to a wide audience.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Winning the award would be amazing not only for all of our staff who work tirelessly day in day out to continually contribute to our Social Aim of supporting our participants along their journey to sustainable employment, but also to our small number of Non-Executive Directors who make up The Lennox Partnership board who give their time and expertise to guide our organisation, and have done so over many years. It is pleasing that our board members get an opportunity to contribute to our Investors in people assessment process through their interviews with our assessor, which in turn gives them some “ownership” of the success we have achieved. Wining the award would also be testimony to our staff’s determination to play an active part in what our organisation stands for and to continually uphold our values in their daily work.

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engage in awards and events like this one?

The benefit we get from being part of the Investors in People community is realised on a number of levels. The IIP standard signifies our commitment to being a great employer and achieving success through our people. It helps us through the process of engaging with our staff and striving for continuous improvement in all we do. It was mentioned earlier that one of our aims in our strategic plan was to be “an employer of choice” Whilst it is difficult for us to compete with the public sector on wages, having Investors in People recognition allows us to attract new staff by clearly promoting what kind of organisation we are, and what new staff members can expect through their employment with us. It also serves to assist us with staff retention, when people recognise, that its “not a bad place to work!!” With this in mind, being recognised through winning, or being shortlisted for an IIP Award provides us with a great platform to promote our successes to a wide audience, that we would not otherwise be able to do.
