The Investors in People Awards 2025 - Finalist Case Study

Nominated for The Award for UK Employer of the Year: Accredited (50-249 people)

Why did you enter the Investors in People 2025 Awards?

We have held Investors in People accreditation for over 24 years, and it has always been more than a certificate for us. It has shaped how we support and develop our people. Entering the Awards this year felt like a natural step, particularly after launching our first People Plan at the end of 2024. The People Plan was created in response to key priorities for our future, including succession planning, improving inter-departmental communication, and embedding our newly defined vision and values across the business. We recognised that to grow and thrive, we needed a clear strategy that put people at the heart of everything we do. The Plan brought together initiatives around development, wellbeing, communication and recognition, ensuring a structured and inclusive approach. By entering the Awards, we wanted to celebrate that progress, learn from others, and most importantly, recognise the contribution of our people, whose input and commitment have made it a success.

What has it meant to you, your team, and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Being shortlisted has been a proud moment for the whole business. For me personally, it confirms that the approach we have taken is working and that our People Plan has had a real impact. For our employees, it has reinforced that their voices and contributions matter, and that what we are building together is being recognised outside of the company. The announcement has created a sense of pride and motivation across the team, and it has shown that investing in people is not only the right thing to do but also makes us stronger as a business.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Winning would be a significant achievement for everyone at Trustland. It would recognise not just the initiatives and processes we have introduced, but the effort of the whole team to live our vision and values in their day-to-day work. It would also show our clients, partners and future employees that we are serious about being a business that puts people first. More than anything, it would be a powerful acknowledgement for our people that their input has shaped a workplace they can be proud of, while also motivating us to continue raising standards in the years ahead. The theme of our planned year end, whole company get together is ‘Celebration’ so to have an Investors in People award to reflect on would be fantastic.

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engage in awards and events like this one?

The IIP community has always been important to us because it gives us the chance to benchmark ourselves, share ideas and learn from others. It reminds us that we are part of a wider movement working to create better workplaces. Awards and events provide an opportunity to celebrate achievements, but also to challenge ourselves to go further. For our leadership team, it offers insight into best practice, and for our employees, it brings a source of pride knowing we are part of something bigger than our own organisation.
