Wood Innovations Ltd

The Investors in People Awards 2025 - Finalist Case Study

Nominated for The Award for UK Employer of the Year: Silver (2-49 people)

Why did you enter the Investors in People 2025 Awards?

At Wood Innovations, we entered the Investors in People Awards to benchmark our people-first culture against the very best. Over the past five years, our business has grown rapidly. We knew that to sustain this momentum, our people strategy needed to evolve with the same ambition as our commercial goals.

Achieving IIP Silver accreditation in 2024 validated that our commitment to wellbeing, learning and inclusion was making a measurable difference. Entering the IIP Awards was the next natural step to celebrate that progress, learn from others in the community and showcase how investing in people drives lasting success.

For us, this isn’t about recognition alone, it’s about accountability. The Awards challenge us to keep raising the bar, ensuring our “Work Well, Live Well” culture continues to thrive as we grow.

What has it meant to you, your team, and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Being shortlisted has been a moment of immense pride for everyone at Wood Innovations. It has reaffirmed that our values aren’t just words on a wall but lived experiences across both our sites.

For our colleagues, the shortlisting is recognition that their voices and ideas truly shape the company. Our team, our wellbeing champions and our apprentices all see themselves reflected in this achievement. As one colleague said, “It’s amazing to see the company recognised for the things that make it such a great place to work.”

For leadership, it’s validation that our people-first culture is our most powerful business driver. And for our customers and partners, it signals that Wood Innovations is a business that has developed a workplace built on respect, purpose and belonging.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Winning an IIP Award would be amazing recognition of our people and a catalyst for our next stage of growth. It would celebrate every colleague who has helped shape our culture, from wellbeing champions to future leaders progressing through our apprenticeship programmes.

It would also amplify our voice as an employer of choice in Northern Ireland and across the UK. We know that our success depends on attracting and retaining exceptional people and winning would strengthen our employer brand, helping us inspire new talent who share our values.

But more than that, it would drive us forward. A win would reinforce our commitment to continuous improvement challenging ourselves to keep innovating, listening and evolving together as One Team, One Purpose.

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engage in awards and events like this one?

Being part of the Investors in People community is invaluable for us. It provides both a framework and a network. A place where like-minded organisations can share best practice and inspire one another to keep improving how we lead, develop and care for our people.

Through IIP benchmarking, we’ve gained deep insight into our strengths and opportunities, helping us shape initiatives. Engaging in awards and events connects us with others who share our belief that business success starts with people thriving.

We see this community as a partnership. Just as we learn from others, we also want to share our journey, from doubling our workforce to achieving award winning inclusivity, so that together we can elevate standards of workplace excellence.
