Paul Devoy
Chief Executive Officer - Investors in People Community Interest Company

Paul Devoy has been heading up Investors in People since August 2011. Investors in People is the Standard for people management, held by over 11,000 organisations in 75 countries worldwide. Paul led the development of the sixth generation Investors in People Standard, a significant re-development of the original product conceived out of UK Government in 1991.

Paul also led the transfer of Investors in People (IIP) from the UK Government in 2016. IIP became a Community Interest Company in February 2017 and is run for the benefit of the community of employers and individuals that it serves. Prior to this Paul was Head of Organisational Development at the Scottish Prison Service, during his time there all 17 Prisons in Scotland were awarded Investors in People recognition.

Valerie Todd
Talent & Resources Director - Crossrail
Chair - Investors in People Community Interest Company

Valerie is Talent & Resources Director at Crossrail Ltd where she is responsible for ensuring the project has the right people, in the right place at the right time.
Valerie chairs Investors in People Ltd.

Between 2007 and 2016 she served as a government advisor on skills and employment as a Commissioner to the UK Commission for Employment and Skills. She is currently a member of the Secretary of State for Transport’s Taskforce on Skills and Apprenticeships. She has also been appointed as one of the TfL Commissioner’s Special Advisers.

She has a Degree, a MBA and was awarded an honorary Doctorate by the University of Derby for her commitment to equality, diversity and social inclusion in employment.

Valerie is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

Adam Hutchinson
Managing Director - Gaudio Awards

Adam Hutchinson is the Managing Director of Gaudio Awards, one of the UK’s leading bespoke awards manufacturers, providing awards to some of the UK’s largest companies and most recognised awards events.

Gaudio was established in 2006 when Adam spotted a gap in the market for high-quality bespoke awards and plaques. Since starting the business, Adam has assembled a market leading team of individuals who are all dedicated to providing a high level of customer service and exceptional products.

Pablo Lloyd
Chief Executive Officer - Activate Apprenticeships

Pablo Lloyd is CEO of Activate Apprenticeships, a joint venture he co-founded with the Activate Learning group. Activate Apprenticeships delivers apprenticeships & training for over 1,000 clients across the UK, and includes Activate Business School which specialises in leadership development.

Pablo has served on boards in the banking, music and training sectors for over 20 years. He was a founding director of learndirect which grew to become the UK’s largest further education provider. Following its successful sale to private equity, he founded Aspero Consulting where he remains a non-executive advisor. He is also Deputy Chair of WorldSkillsUK  and a non-executive director of Ixion Holdings, a national provider of skills and employability services.

He is a Cambridge University graduate and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Petra Wilton
Director of Strategy and External Affairs - Chartered Management Institute

Petra Wilton leads CMI's thought leadership and research agenda and heads the marketing, digital and communications teams. She is responsible for building both it's brand profile and strategic partnerships. She focuses on sharing practical insights that can make a real difference to managers and leaders. Working with CMI for over 15 years, Petra has great in-depth knowledge of the trends and issues affecting managers and CMI's 130,000 members. She has co-authored many reports and shares managers' views with this in Government, business, education and the media.

Petra has been leading work with a 50-strong employer group, business schools and other education partners on the development of the new management apprenticeships including the team leader, operations manager and Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship. This employer group is now developing a final apprenticeship at Masters level.


She has a longstanding commitment to improving diversity, supporting the launch of CMI Women, and is the spokesperson on the gender pay gap.


Terry Canty
Partner - Troup Bywaters + Anders

Terry joined Troup Bywaters + Anders, Building Services Consulting Engineers, as a junior electrical design engineer from University in 1985, and has been a Partner of the business since 2001.

Terry is passionate about ensuring opportunities are available to young people to enter the industry and is responsible for our award winning apprenticeship scheme at board level. He mentors our year 1 and 2 apprentices supporting their transition from education to the workplace. He takes an active role in their performance at college, their NVQ programme and their involvement in the local community, charity work and volunteering activities.

Tracy Strachan
Commercial Services Director - Brunel University London

Tracy Strachan is the Commercial Services Director at Brunel University London.  She is an energetic role model who successfully leads and motivates her people to achieve.  Her leadership naturally exemplifies the University values and Investor in People (IiP) standards.  As leader of the Directorate Tracy has made an outstanding difference during a time of great change in the Sector. Her leadership has resulted in her people  achieving incredible business and career results.  Tracy is naturally a strategic leader, always aware of future challenges and opportunities.  Under her leadership the Directorate achieved IiP Gold in 2014 and is working towards Generation 6 Platinum accreditation later this year.  Tracy was awarded IIP Leader of the Year 2016.

Brad Taylor
Director of People - CIPD

Brad Taylor joined the CIPD in June 2016. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management and is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD. He has experience in people strategy, organisational development, change management, culture and performance management. Brad started his career with Barclays Plc, working across both HR and non-HR roles, before moving into the not-for-profit sector. He was with CIMA (the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) as their Director of HR & Workplace where he led a people, workplace and technology programme to move their corporate centre and European regional office to their new office in Moorgate, London in 2015.

In his current role, Brad works with colleagues in HR and across the organisation to implement the CIPD’s strategic ambitions through their people. This involves a review of the CIPD’s people strategy, including areas such as engagement, organisational development, talent attraction, EVP and culture.
