Paul Devoy
Chief Executive Officer - Investors in People Community Interest Company

Paul Devoy has been heading up Investors in People since August 2011. Investors in People is the Standard for people management, held by over 11,000 organisations in 75 countries worldwide. Paul led the development of the sixth generation Investors in People Standard, a significant re-development of the original product conceived out of UK Government in 1991.

Paul also led the transfer of Investors in People (IIP) from the UK Government in 2016. IIP became a Community Interest Company in February 2017 and is run for the benefit of the community of employers and individuals that it serves. Prior to this Paul was Head of Organisational Development at the Scottish Prison Service, during his time there all 17 Prisons in Scotland were awarded Investors in People recognition.


Adam Hutchinson
Managing Director - Gaudio Awards

Adam Hutchinson is the Managing Director of Gaudio Awards, one of the UK’s leading bespoke awards manufacturers, providing awards to some of the UK’s largest companies and most recognised awards events.

Dame Carol Black
Principal - Newham College

Professor Dame Carol Black DBE, FRCP, FMedSci is Principal of Newnham College Cambridge and Expert Adviser on Health and Work to NHS England and Public Health England. She chairs the board of Think Ahead, the Government’s fast-stream training programme for Mental Health Social Workers; the Board of Nuffield Health and Corporate Services Ltd; and the Institute of Cardiovascular Medicine and Science. She is a member of the Bevan Commission on health in Wales, the board of UK Active, Rand Europe’s Council of Advisers, the Strategy Board for the Defence National Rehabilitation Centre, and the Advisory Board of Step up to Serve. 

Dame Carol has compiled three independent reviews for the UK Government. As National Director for Health and Work (2006-11) she completed in 2008 a review of the health of the population of working age, which led to a revised medical certificate of sickness; and in November 2011 she completed as Co-Chair an independent review of sickness absence in Britain whose recommendations have mostly been put in place. Her latest independent review, of employment outcomes of addiction to drugs or alcohol, or obesity, and the benefits system, was published in December 2016 and is gradually being implemented.    

Pablo Lloyd
Chief Executive Officer - Activate Apprenticeships

Pablo Lloyd  is CEO of Activate Apprenticeships, a joint venture he co-founded with the Activate Learning group. Activate Apprenticeships delivers apprenticeships & training for over 1,000 clients across the UK, and includes Activate Business School which specialises in leadership development.

Pablo has served on boards in the banking, music and training sectors for over 20 years. He was a founding director of learndirect which grew to become the UK’s largest further education provider. Following its successful sale to private equity, he founded Aspero Consulting where he remains a non-executive advisor. He is also Deputy Chair of WorldSkillsUK  and a non-executive director of Ixion Holdings, a national provider of skills and employability services.

He is a Cambridge University graduate and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Chris Roebuck
Visiting Professor of Transformational Leadership - Cass Business School

Chris has unique experience to assess organisations and their ability to succeed. For over 30 years Chris has been at the forefront of leadership development across multiple areas.

Chris is an economist so fully understands the financial success that can be delivered via inspiring leaders. He has supported leadership teams as diverse as the Red Cross in Myanmar and Telecoms in Oman, the Chinese Space Programme, retail in USA and IT in Portugal. He has shown leaders how they can inspire success to achieve organisational growth in multiple countries across multiple continents. 

Chris' first book on leadership was translated into 11 languages and he co-authored the first book on strategic leadership development. He has been quoted as a business leadership expert globally in numerous publications and is regularly interviewed on leadership and business issues on televison channels including the BBC, ITV, Sky and CNN.

Terry Canty
Partner - Troup Bywaters + Anders

Terry Canty is one of Troup Bywaters + Anders (TB+A) senior and accomplished Partners. He leads a design team of 30 people delivering some of the largest and complex healthcare schemes across the UK and drives the practices BIM implementation team to deliver a consistent, high quality product.

Terry joined TB+A, building services consulting engineers, as a junior electrical design engineer from University in 1985 and became Partner of the business in 2001.

Terry is passionate about ensuring opportunities are available to young people entering the industry and is responsible for our award winning apprenticeship scheme at board level. He mentors our year one and two apprentices supporting their transition from education to the workplace. He takes an active role in their performance at college, their NVQ programme and their involvement in the local community, charity work and volunteering activities.

Tracy Strachan
Director of Commercial Services - Brunel University London

 Tracy Strachan is the Commercial Services Director at Brunel University London.  She is an energetic role model who successfully leads and motivates her people to achieve.  Her leadership naturally exemplifies the University values and Investor in People (IiP) standards.  As leader of the Directorate Tracy has made an outstanding difference during a time of great change in the Sector. Her leadership has resulted in her people  achieving incredible business and career results.  Tracy is naturally a strategic leader, always aware of future challenges and opportunities.  Under her leadership the Directorate achieved IiP Gold in 2014 and is working towards Generation 6 Platinum accreditation later this year.  Tracy was awarded IIP Leader of the Year 2016.

Brad Taylor
Director of People - CIPD

Brad is the CIPD’s Director of People. He leads CIPD’s own HR and people development function, ensuring that the organisation is able to achieve its strategic aspirations through attracting, developing and retaining great people.  He is interested in people strategy, culture and organisational development. In particular, he is enthusiastic about enabling all CIPD people to collaborate effectively to achieve the CIPD’s mission of championing better work and working lives.

Brad joined the CIPD in June 2016. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management and is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD.  He started his career with Barclays Plc, working across both HR and non-HR roles, before moving into the not-for-profit sector, where he was Director of HR & Workplace with CIMA.

Petra Wilton 
Director of Strategy & External Affairs - Chartered Management Institute

Petra Wilton leads CMI’s thought leadership and research agenda and heads the marketing, digital and communications teams.  She is responsible for building both its brand profile and strategic partnerships. She focuses on sharing practical insights that can make a real difference to managers and leaders.  Working with CMI for over 15 years, Petra has great in-depth knowledge of the trends and issues affecting managers and CMI’s 130,000 members. She has co-authored many reports and shares managers’ views with those in Government, business, education and the media.

Petra has been leading work with a 50-strong employer group, business schools and other education partners on the development of the new management apprenticeships including the team leader, operations manager and Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship.  This employer group is now developing a final apprenticeship at Masters level.

She has a longstanding commitment to improving diversity, supporting the launch of CMI Women, and is a spokesperson on the gender pay gap.

Before joining the CMI, Petra was a director of a specialist public affairs consultancy advising on public policy issues. She has an MA (Hons) in History from Cambridge University and is a Fellow of the RSA.  Petra enjoys sailing and walking on the East Coast, spotting egrets and spending time with her young family.

Joanna Abeyie
Managing Director - Hyden

Joanna founded the award-winning creative industry diverse talent recruitment business Shine Media in 2009, which recently morphed into Hyden (taken from the old English word for ‘hidden’), as part of leading global recruiter SThree PLC. Having helped to place more than 3,000 people from diverse backgrounds in permanent and freelance jobs in the creative industries, it is Joanna’s efforts in improving the creative industry’s diversity that truly have made her stand out.

As a campaigner for diversity within the publishing, TV, Radio, Digital and Creative Industries, Joanna is regularly at the centre of the diversity agenda, leading conversations around inclusion and representation. She is often called upon to steer, lead, plan, create or participate in established industry events or radio and TV discussions around the diversity conversation. These discussions have seen Joanna speak Nationally and Internationally for the Confederation of British Industry, Policy UK, Bullhorn Live, Recruitment Leaders Connect, Talent Leaders Connect, BBC Step Up Programme, Sky Sports Women In Leadership Programme, Advertising Week Europe, The Professional Publishers Association Festival and BT and EE’s Flexible Working Campaign. 

Joanna worked as a consultant and became a key diversity partner for the BBC, ITV, ITN, Channel 4, Sky, Hearst Publishing, Bloomberg, MediaCom,  MC Saatchi & Saatchi and Viacom to name just a few.

Dr Pav Ramewal
Chief Executive Officer - Sevenoaks District Council

Pav is Chief Executive at Sevenoaks District Council and has significant Director level experience in local government.

Pav has been instrumental in the transformation of the Council, pioneering empowerment and productivity in the workforce, bringing a relentless focus on customer service and developing a unique 10 year budget framework.

Since his appointment as Chief Executive, the Council became the first public sector organisation globally to achieve Platinum accreditation under Investors in People. In 2016 Sevenoaks District became the first financially self-sufficient Council in the Country, an achievement that has been recognised nationally and led to Sevenoaks being crowned Council of the Year 2017 at the LGC Awards.

Pav is a Chartered Accountant, holds a Doctorate in Managing Change through Empowerment and has a number of additional Masters qualifications.
