Investors in People Welcomes Joanna Abeyie to its Board
Investors in People is proud to announce the appointment of its newest Non-Executive Director, Joanna Abeyie, Managing Director of Hyden. With her extensive background in developing recruitment solutions to place talent from a diverse range of ethnic and socio-economic background, Joanna brings an important new perspective to IIP’s mission.
Investors in People CEO Paul Devoy said: ‘I am delighted to announce another new appointment to our board following that of our new Chair, Ian Deninson of Amey PLC last month. Joanna Abeyie of Hyden has joined us as a Non-Executive Director. With her wealth of experience in successfully advancing the diversity agenda within the creative sector, I am sure that Joanna will bring valuable insights to the work that we do as IIP.’
Beginning her career in magazine publishing, Joanna went on to set up her own diverse talent recruitment business, Shine Media. This organisation then merged into her current company, Hyden, a branch of global recruiter SThree PLC. Through this work, Joanna has successfully placed more than 3,000 people from diverse backgrounds in jobs across the creative industries.
Joanna has also led high-profile campaigns to promote the workplace diversity agenda, including co-founding her own charity, Elevation Networks. More recently, Joanna joined the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, which intends to evolve London into an inclusive, fair, productive and healthy city for all.
Of her appointment to the Investors in People board, Joanna said: “I’ve spent the last ten years helping businesses build a diverse talent pool and create inclusive working environments to allow all talent to thrive; joining the IIP board felt like a natural extension of this work.”
Joanna continued, “A business is only as good as its people. And it’s those people really who keep the lights on and the doors open. If they stop developing themselves, enjoying what they do, and don’t have their creativity and enthusiasm encouraged by good, inclusive leaders, businesses will lose their competitive edge. This is where I believe that IIP comes in; helping organisations to attract, develop, retain and promote great talent while simultaneously creating positive and productive work places for all.”
Notes to Editors
This latest announcement for IIP comes at the tail-end of an incredibly transformative eighteen months for the organisation which began in February 2017 when it evolved from a government entity into a Community Interest Company. This legitimised IIP’s ambition to prioritise its social mission; to ensure that happy and satisfied employees are the bedrock of business success.
