Why did you enter The Investors in People Awards 2020? 

SSCL, Just like the Investors in People, believes that our people are our most valuable asset. Without them we wouldn’t be able to excel in our strategy to help the Government and the taxpayer save £400m by 2023.  SSCL’s transformation of Government business services sits at the heart of these strategies. Linked to this is SSCL’s recently launched innovation strategy and roadmap with three core approaches, the first being its focus on personalised user experiences and co-design of innovative solutions. So putting forward myPay for the ‘Outstanding Use of Technology’ category in these awards was the perfect fit.  

You’ve been announced as a Finalist – what does that mean to you and your people? 

SSCL couldn’t be prouder to have been shortlisted for this award. The whole SSCL Service Strategy & Innovation team is delighted its approach to developing and implementing innovative solutions, by co-designing them with end users, has been recognised in this way.  

What would you say is the stand out point in your entry? 

Collaboration with clients and end users and SSCL’s ability to listen to them – this insight has been crucial to develop, innovate and stay ahead of the curve on technology advancements. Clients and end users feedback impacts what works well, what doesn’t and what changes they would like to see.  

Collaboration is a vital component in being able to harness this data which unlocks and transforms business for public sector bodies. The importance we put on gathering this data and how customers interact with us –  the user journey - is a stand out feature and  how using this insight it is turned into innovations  that will have the biggest impact and overall savings to clients.  

The implementation of  myPay  is a  great  example of  meeting the  evolving needs of clients.  

Customer expectations are constantly evolving and it is hugely important that SSCL looks to the future, anticipating client needs and implements the best range of solutions to exceed expectations. 

What would it mean to win? 

It would be an incredible honour to win the award and for the myPay product to be recognised and acknowledged in this way by Investors in People. The Service Strategy & Innovation team in SSCL work really closely with end users to ensure all of the products implemented offer a real personalised user experience and this award would also recognise the collaborative work with all SSCL’s customers. 

Winning a prestigious award like this would cement SSCL’s position as a trusted, strategic partner to our clients and a springboard to reach even greater heights, further driving our strategy.
