The Investors in People Awards 2025 - Finalist Case Study

Nominated for The Award for Best Culture (up to 100 employees)

Why did you enter the Investors in People 2025 Awards?

We have been working with Investors in People since 2004, achieving Standard, Silver and, in 2016, Gold. This summer, with an amazing effort from our whole team, we were awarded the We Invest in People Platinum level, achieving a High Performing rating in every single indicator. It really does feel like the crowning achievement for 20 years of hard work and the time felt right to see if we had what it takes to be recognised publicly at the Awards.

What has it meant to you, your team, and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Just to be shortlisted feels wonderful! We’re not really the types to seek publicity for what we do; it is very much part of our culture to focus on the work, making ctm the best place it possibly can be as a workplace and focussing on the product and the team. We’ve never entered ourselves for an award in over 25 years of running the business so this is all new to us, but we owe it to the team to celebrate their efforts and this shortlisting alone is a truly great achievement that we are all extremely proud of.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2025 Award?

We’re two years into our four year plan to double the business in size without losing the culture that makes it special and so far, we’re ahead of that curve, with this year being our biggest year ever, so to win this award at the end of that year would be the best possible way to celebrate! It would mean the world to everyone here at ctm to be recognised with the award. Growth plans naturally focus on turnover and profits, so we’re taking great efforts to ensure that we take all of our people with us on that journey. This award would be the perfect way to recognise that effort and to show the whole team that the growth of the business will never be at the cost of the amazing culture that brought us here.

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engage in awards and events like this one?

External recognition and community engagement are vitally important to stay in touch with like-minded organisations. As a small business it is all to easy to be inward-looking, focusing on your day-to-day. Thie Investors in People community, standard, assessments and wider ethos help us to keep our small corner of the working world engaged with the latest best-practice and approaches. It also helps everyone in our organisation understand our approach in the context of that wider community, fostering pride and satisfaction in what we do, as well as inspiration from some of the best run organisations in the country.
