The Investors in People Awards 2025 - Finalist Case Study

Standguide Group Limited

Nominated for The Award for UK Employer of the Year: Accredited (250+ people)

Why did you enter the Investors in People 2025 Awards?

We entered because people are at the heart of everything Standguide does, both the people we support and the colleagues who deliver our services. The Investors in People framework has been central to our strategy for many years, helping us to embed best practice and continually improve how we lead, develop, and empower our teams.

In the past year, we’ve undergone a transformative shift, becoming a 100% Employee-Owned Trust. This change has created a unique opportunity to strengthen our culture of ownership, engagement, and shared success. Entering the Investors in People Awards allows us to benchmark our progress, celebrate the achievements of our colleagues, and demonstrate how employee ownership is already delivering results, including a 41% drop in staff turnover, a 15% reduction in sick days, and 88% of staff agreeing that we have a positive impact on society.

Most importantly, we entered to shine a light on the voices and contributions of our people. Their pride, purpose, and commitment are what make Standguide special, and this award is an opportunity to honour them.

What has it meant to you, your team, and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Being shortlisted is a proud moment for everyone at Standguide. It recognises the culture we’ve built around purpose, belonging, and ownership, and validates the effort our people put in every day. For staff, it’s proof that their voices and contributions are shaping a workplace that makes a real difference. For the organisation, it confirms that our employee ownership journey and people-first strategy are setting a benchmark in best practice.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2025 Award?

Winning would be transformational for Standguide. As a newly established Employee Ownership Trust, the award would be a powerful validation of our strategy to put people at the heart of everything we do. It would symbolise the success of our transition to employee ownership, demonstrating that our culture of empowerment, innovation, and inclusivity is thriving. For our staff, a win would represent recognition of their collective ownership and contribution to Standguide’s achievements. For the organisation, it would strengthen our credibility with partners, stakeholders, and the wider community – showing that we not only deliver meaningful impact for those we support but also live our values internally. Ultimately, it would energise us to continue building a workplace where every colleague feels seen, valued, and motivated to shape Standguide’s future.

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engage in awards and events like this one?

Being part of the Investors in People community is extremely important to Standguide. The framework has guided us in embedding our values and creating a culture where staff thrive, and remaining actively engaged ensures we continue to learn, evolve, and share best practice. This event provides us with opportunities to celebrate our achievements, and benchmark ourselves against other organisations. As an Employee-Owned Trust, the IIP community aligns perfectly with our mission to prioritise people, strengthen leadership, and foster collaboration. Engagement in this event also reinforces to our staff that their work matters not just internally, but as part of a wider commitment to making work better for everyone.
