We invest in apprentices
3-YEAR APPRENTICESHIP MANAGEMENT ACCREDITATION
The right apprenticeship is the right person, in the right place at the right time.
But the best apprenticeship frameworks do not happen by accident. It’s about attracting that person, providing space and support for them to grow. Then you’re both unstoppable!
Start your apprenticeship accreditation journey with We invest in apprentices
Apprenticeships for All
We’ve worked with the Department of Education, apprentice employers big and small, and with apprentices and their families, training providers and policymakers to create our framework.
With help from some of the most trusted brands in the UK, from Nestlé to Bentley, the Ministry of Defence to the NHS and the Young Apprentice Ambassador Network, we’ve built this framework to help you create successful and powerful apprenticeship programmes.
Helping your organisation give every apprentice the best chance of success
We developed the ‘We invest in apprentices’ framework so your business can assess your approach to apprenticeships, learn your strengths, address areas for improvement and provide you with a roadmap to continually improve your apprenticeship programme.
We take a holistic view of how well employers support apprentices to maximise their potential – right from the very beginning when recruiting apprentices through to ensuring they have the best career or progression opportunities at the end of the programme.
Whether you’ve already got an apprentice or you’re looking to set up a programme – we can help you unlock the potential within your organisation.
Key benefits include:
Stand out
Stand out from other employers & become an employer of choice. Show others that apprenticeships benefit business & the economy, and get recognition for your hard work.
Attract Top talent
We invest in apprentices helps to attract top talent through a public commitment to invest in apprentices.
Continual improvement
Our framework will provide you with a roadmap to continually improve your apprenticeship programme including improving apprentice wellbeing, engagement and retention, and key metrics like productivity and product & service quality.
The We invest in apprentices framework
We use our framework to assess how well you’re supporting your apprentices at work, including development, communication and support.
Helping you to build an apprentice experience to support your organisation’s skills requirement and succession planning.
Commitment is about having a clear business case for apprenticeships, and it’s linked to the organisation’s purpose, values and objectives. It asks whether your recruitment is tailored to apprentices and focuses on widening participation and diversity. You will be asked to evidence your apprenticeship induction process, that you pay your apprentices competitively, and that their benefits packages are comparable to those for other people in your organisation.
Development focuses on the work- based objectives you set your apprentices that stretch and develop them professionally. It also covers your commitment to apprentice education and learning, support from trained, engaged, and willing line managers and mentors, and making sure apprentices are well supported and prepared for their assessments.
Communication & Support looks at the structured partnership between your apprentices, their line managers/your organisation and training providers. It assesses how empowered your apprentices feel to give feedback and know that their voice matters. You will be asked to show clear consideration of apprentice wellbeing, including safeguarding, and how you recognise and celebrate apprentices’ individual successes.
How it works
The steps in the visual below summarise how we will work with you when conducting a apprentice assessment. This methodology focuses on a typical accreditation journey but its principles can be adapted and tailored to meet your organisation’s needs.

We'll discuss and explore the benefits of Investors in People, understand your organisation's unique situation and agree the best approach to assessment.
We take the time to discuss your priorities, challenges, strengths and strategies, dive into the content of our frameworks, and map out the timeline for surveys and meetings on your journey.
We talk to you
Everyone in the organisation will be asked to provide feedback via our survey and we support you to deploy that survey in the most effective way possible using your existing communication channels to encourage everyone to take part.
The survey is followed up by interviews with representatives from across your organisation - chosen to reflect the diversity of your workforce and their roles.
We listen to your apprentices
Our report provides the analysis of the survey and interview findings including a breakdown of how your organisation has performed against the framework indicators and themes.
At this point, we will reveal your level of accreditation - Standard, Silver, Gold or Platinum!
We report on our findings
Your specialised Investors in People practitioner will provide recommendations and next steps in organisational improvement, and will arrange regular, annual meetings to support and guide on that journey of continuous improvement, factoring in business changes, challenges and achievements that you experience.
