Indigo Swan are an independent energy consultancy based in the heart of Norwich. They help businesses make quick, easy and well-informed decisions about their energy. From finding the right supplier, to checking and negotiating contracts we are here to help your business be more energy efficient. Indigo Swan have been shortlisted for the UK Employer of the Year: Gold award.

Why did you enter the Awards?

Our vision is to offer our customers a tailored service which fuses relentless efficiencies, a colourful personality and an unflinching commitment to finding a better way. The Investors In People accreditation helps us identify areas where improvements can be made to help make sure we are all working towards this common goal.

Swans (our employees) are at the heart of everything we do. We work hard to nurture an environment where they feel valued and empowered – qualities which contribute to our esteemed culture. We want to create somewhere they can call a second home, a place to voice ideas, support one another and flourish in everything they do. By entering these awards, we hope it goes someway to demonstrate to them our commitment to their development and personal aspirations.

Positive company culture doesn’t happen overnight, it’s something we have worked on over the years and has naturally blossomed as the team has grown. It takes patience, clear vision and values which the whole team can buy into, both inside and outside of work. We want to celebrate all our amazing achievements which have led us to where we are today.

What was the key point of your entry?

We live and breathe our values – they are shot through everything we do. Our first and probably most important value is ‘Happiness First’. We believe happiness leads to success, not the other way around – we can achieve more because we’re happy and healthy. As a company we promote wellbeing and advocate positivity to help create an atmosphere where everybody can thrive.

Our human-centric culture draws people to us and has built a much-admired reputation. We encourage Swans to be themselves and appreciate the diversity this brings. We operate under the ideology of ‘Blackbox Thinking’ and have successfully implemented a no blame culture. We know despite working hard and with the best of intentions, we recognise sometimes things can go wrong. By shifting our focus to learning and problem solving we’ve been able to improve efficiencies, upskill and create more positive relationships. We’re always looking for clever ways to innovate and make our company even better.

What would it mean to you to win?

It’s hard to put into words what it would mean to win ‘UK Employer of the Year: Gold’. The energy sector is currently under immense pressure, so to able to shine a light on our incredible team and the amazing work they do for our customers would bring a huge relief during challenging times.

The Swans all work exceptionally hard and put their heart into everything they do. To be given the opportunity for this to be recognised and celebrated on a national level would truly mean the world. We want to reinforce to them that they are loved, valued and appreciated every day.
