Why did you enter the Investors in People 2023 Awards?

We were nominated by IIP to enter a submission for possible shortlisting.  I wasn’t actually aware of the awards until this point!  We felt proud to be nominated so of course we wanted to write a submission in the hope we would be shortlisted.

What has it meant to you, your team and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2023 Award?

Being shortlisted is a massive achievement for us, especially being a small team.  It has shown that the hard work and effort we have put in to creating a nice place to work and ensuring our teams are valued & empowered has been worth it.  We are all feeling so proud to have been shortlisted and had to pinch ourselves to check it was real!

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2023 Award?

To win an award would be absolutely wonderful. It would prove to all stake holders (internal and external) how passionate we are about our people and our commitment to ensuring their development and happiness at work.  We pride ourselves in the way we operate not only as a business, but as people, and having an award confirming this to be the case would give additional evidence to our words, feelings, and actions!  Hopefully it would show those that apply for jobs that we are a caring business and strive to achieve the best for our people and help us to recruit brilliant people!  For our customers I hope it would show how committed we are to ensuring the best people are taking care of them.  For myself, having had bad experiences in my career history in workplaces and wanting my company to be so much better in that aspect, it really would prove personally that I have managed to achieve my desire of creating a happy working environment and one where people can thrive.  It really doesn’t get any better than that!

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engaged in awards and events like this one?

IIP has become a big part of what we do in C&C, it is at the forefront of our minds when we make business decisions.  Being able to take part in these type of events gives us all a boost – something to look forward to and learn from others in attendance to make things better in our own workplace.  Sharing ideas gives us light bulb moments and we hope we can contribute to the IIP community in the same way.  Even if we are not successful in winning the award, we will definitely be taking part in years to come and will continue to attend IIP events throughout the year to improve our knowledge and to help build an even better future at C&C!
