Why did you enter the Investors in People 2023 Awards?

To give us the opportunity to be benchmarked against our peers using IIP’s independent and validated framework, specifically the indicator Building Capability ie: Learning & Development Award for this year.

We are also proud of what we have achieved over the last 18 months and more confident about what is possible:

  • Applying insights from our IIP reviews to inform and prioritise our L&D strategic plan, has resulted in year-on-year increases for our Building Capability indicator, with 70.4% of our people fully agreeing they have opportunities to learn at work.
  • We improved in all 9 indicators to achieve Silver Accreditation in 2022.

 What has it meant to you, your team and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2023 Award?

We are thrilled to be shortlisted for the Learning and Development award. We invested time to apply the IIP insights from our reviews and to work with our people to understand and prioritise what will make the biggest difference for them to be able to practice a culture of everyday learning to enable them to make a difference and achieve our vision*.

Being shortlisted by a recognised external body, validates, and acknowledges the importance, commitment and energies invested by our leaders, our colleagues and the L&D team as together we continue to build capability.

*Our vision is to promote, protect and support solicitors, the rule of law and justice in England and Wales

 What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2023 Award?

One of our 4 strategic corporate goals is to be an employer of choice for people who want to make a difference. Winning an IIP award would demonstrate that we are an employer of choice and that we invest in our people to make work better, and to support them in everyday leaning, helping them to make a difference and futureproofing our capabilities.

And we would be so very, very proud!

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engaged in awards and events like this one?

Being part of a community where we all have a shared outcome to make work better and to create cultures where people can be their best, is invaluable. As an internal expert, I need to step out for external insight and to explore what others are experiencing and their lessons learned. This sharing in the community, events  and awards give me the chance to do that.
