WINNER – The Award for UK Employer of the Year: Platinum (2-49 people)

Why did you enter the Investors in People 2023 Awards?  

To be honest we were invited to submit an application by IIP.  We don’t normally go in for awards at all. Our reason for being involved in the IIP process itself is to keep us guided on a path of continuous improvement. Positive feedback from our tenants means more to us than the shiny plaque (though it doesn’t stop us from proudly displaying it!)  

What has it meant to you, your team and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2023 Award? 

Our staff and Board are absolutely buzzing! They are extremely proud to ‘officially’ be named as a ‘top ten’ UK organisation in the Platinum small organisations category. So much so, that 15 of us (more than half of the whole staff and Board team!) are making the trip to the ceremony. 

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2023 Award?  

For me personally, it would be a legacy to be proud of. For the organisation, well I am already trying to manage expectations in that respect, but if our name gets called out you will likely see a few tears. The whole town of East Kilbride would also be proud of their little local housing association bringing the trophy up to Scotland, I’m sure! 

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engaged in awards and events like this one?

Extremely important. We were delighted to be invited to tell our story at a recent IIP awards ceremony in Glasgow, and we are proud to regularly act as mentors and advisors for other similar organisations who might be earlier on their IIP journey than we are. Sharing ideas and experiences is really useful, as is having an action plan for improvement. That’s mainly why we got involved with IIP in the first place.
