Why did you enter the Investors in People 2023 Awards? 

Alex Sturge, head of communications, media and engagement said: “We participate in Investors in People because it is a universally respected measure of quality in leadership. This year we have entered where we think we are best able to showcase our sector leading efforts and achievements, Management and Leadership, and Social Responsibility. For us, leadership means supporting our teams, listening, and making sure they’re part of important decisions. Our commitment to inclusivity and collaboration is shown by the c400 long-serving employees who have dedicated 40 or more years’ service to our company, testament to our continuous efforts to be an employer of choice.   

In terms of social responsibility, so much of our work is about doing the right thing by our employees and the communities we serve.

What has it meant to you, your team and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2023 Award? 

We’re delighted to be a double finalist this year, in the Leadership and Management, and Social Responsibility awards. To be shortlisted is just recognition for the 600 managers here that work tirelessly every day to make sure they are focused, accountable and visible.  

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2023 Award? 

In a constantly changing world, such a prestigious national award would be a clear signal of our commitment and continuous improvement around investing in our employees. If we were to win an Investors In People Award, it would bring validation, reward and motivation for our hardworking teams.

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engaged in awards and events like this one? 

Being part of the Investors in People community gives us a veritable benchmark beyond our office walls, and beyond the energy sector, to reveal just how well we are performing for our employees. Importantly, the process also considers staff feedback, and enables us to learn from the best of the rest, to continuously improve in future.
